Solar panel systems contain solar photovoltaic (PV) cells that capture the sun's energy. However, direct sunlight isn't 100% necessary for this to happen.
The inverter will then convert the energy from the solar cells into electricity to heat your home. Your home will use this as you generate it, and you'll import any additional you need from the grid.
Adding a battery to your system allows you to use your stored energy as and when you choose.
